North Carolina Student Resources – Although they come from another state, these are the rubrics I will use to grade your work!
- FCAT Reading Rubrics, Grades 4, 8, and 10 (PDF) - These are the Reading Response rubrics I use to score your Short & Extended Response answers. I focused on the 8th grade tools. Although this link does not lead to a DOE or DPI web resource, it will take you to a reliable source.
- FCAT Mathematics Rubrics, Grades 5, 8, and 10 (PDF) - I did not teach math while in Florida, but I had students who took math courses. This link will take you to resources for Mathematics testing.
- FCAT Science Rubrics, Grades 5, 8, and 11 (PDF) - I did not teach science while in Florida, but I had students who took science courses. This link will take you to resources for Science testing.
- FCAT Writing Rubrics, Grade 8 (PDF) - For the first three quarters of the year, I use this Essay Scoring Rubric to score your Writing.
- FCAT Writing Rubrics, Grade 10 (PDF)- For the final quarter of the year, I use this Essay Scoring Rubric to score your Writing samples.

- The National Archives Resources – Follow this link to find a list of forms you can use to analyze any type of document: written, photographic, cartoon, poster, map, artifact, motion picture, and sound.
- This page, entitled Critical Reading Toward Critical Writing, presents a process to use when you have to write about something that has been written about by others. Not sure what I mean by that? Check out this page to find out what Critical Writing is.
- Entitled How To View a Painting, this page explains the things to look for/at in a painting.(A page which as is the case from time to time has disappeared….I am looking for a replacement….If you know of one, let me know – post a comment.)
