I created this project to turn over ownership of the classroom to my students. It has proven to be one of the most successful things I have ever chosen to do in a classroom. Through this project, students will discuss rules in society, focus on traits that make for good rules, create rules for themselves and their classroom, decide on a set of agreed upon classroom rules, and create posters publicizing the rules they adopt, or – dare I say – mandate.
The Classroom Rules Project – The Overview – This 2-3 day project at minimum incorporates the following NCSCOS skills, objectives and competencies: 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 2.01, 2.02, 3.01, 3.02, 4.01, 4.02, 4.03, 5.01, 6.01, and 6.02.
