Freak The Mighty – Round 1
Address each of the following questions:
1. Why is Max convinced he does not have a brain?
2. Is his assessment of himself as a “butthead” correct?
THIS is where the critical thinking starts. Address each of the following questions:
3. Do our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us? (Explain, and give examples.)
4. Do others’ opinions of us affect how we feel about ourselves? (Explain, and give examples.)
1.He is covinced he dosen’t have a brain because he failed the seventh grade and and he dosen’t understand what kevin says.
2.Yes, it isn’t corret because he’s not smart and so he calls himself butthead.
3.No, because what people thinks about us is different in there mind because its there opinions.
4. It does affect how you feel if it was similar to what they are saying but if its not the truth it doesnt affect me or you.
1. He is convinced he doesnt have a brain because every time he tries to do something, it goes wrong or he screws up.
2. I think it is correct because he isnt smart and so you will be refered to as a “butthead”.
3. No, becuase what other people think of us is different in there minds then in ours, they can’t see what is going on in our head to make us think that opinion.
4. With me it does affect how i feal about myself, but it only does if i know what they said or what they think of me.
1. I believe that Max feels as if his head is ‘vaccant’, becuase he’s slower than the average person. He’s had to repeat 7th grade twice, can’t read well, and is put in L.D. classes. Just becuase he’s daft, doesn’t mean he has no brain.
2. I feel that Max’s assessment of himself as a ‘butthead’, is entirely wrong. I mean, I dont believe anybody is a ‘butthead’ unless they choose to be. Such as, acting dumb on purpose, or being rude and cruel.
3. Yes, I do feel that our opinions about ourselves, do affect what other people think of us. For example, if you are shy and unsure of yourself, people will notice.
4. Yes, I do believe that what others think of us will impact ourselves. For example, if some tells you that you are fat, you will be self-concious about it. You just have to learn to deal with certain things in life.
Our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us because of the fact that people can react to the way we feel about us. For example, if we think negative about ourselves and have a low self-esteem then people will see that we think badly about ourselves and they’ll start teasing us or the good ones will try and become friends with us and increase our self-esteem and confidence level. Another example would be if somebody thought they were very popular in high school then all the people would praise him like some “king” and nobody would walk by without looking at that person.
Others’ opinions of us affect how we feel about ourselves because it is a judgement made by someone else about you and it can really get into your head. An example would be if some bully picked on an autistic child and the autistic child got “mentally” hurt he would get it in his head that he keeps getting teased and bullied and the remarks that the bully gave him. Another example would be that in fourth grade, I came to school with a pair of “Payless Shoes” sneakers, and of course, I got teased by some kid that had sixty-dollar basketball shoes. I got really mad and I kept begging my mom to get me sixty-dollar basketball shoes and I kept telling myself that those shoes ment that I was poor. I was hurt “mentally.”
1. Why is Max convinced he does not have a brain?
I think that Max is convinced he doesn’t have a brain because he is slower at things than Kevin is, and I’m sure Max knows that Kevin has a very large cranium, so… I think that’s why.
2. Is his assessment of himself as a “butthead” correct?
I’m… not entirely sure of what to say there. Uhh… I would say no. I think that he just called himself anything that he could come up with. Butthead to me sounds like some one stupid but means to do so. I don’t know why, just go along with it. Max is not some one stupid who means to be.
3. Do our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us? (Explain, and give examples.) Umm… yes. I think they do in some situations. For example, if you think that you are so smart you may seem annoying to other people. If you think your self as very confident and outgoing, you will show as that to other people. If you think as your self as a positive person, will will come out as a positive person.
4. Do others’ opinions of us affect how we feel about ourselves? (Explain, and give examples.) Yes, other’s opinions DO affect how we feel about ourselves. Well, I shouldn’t say that. It depends on what kind of person you are. If you REALLY don’t care what people think about you, then I’d say no. But if you care about what other people think of you, then I still stick to my “yes.” Okay, let’s say that you get ketchup on your shirt. If you don’t really care that people are pointing or looking at your funny because you have a huge red stain on your shirt, then that pertains to the ‘no.’ If you care that they are making fun of you, then you’d probably try to hide yourself in a jacket or something.
1.Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he can barely read and doesn’t know alot of words freak uses.
2.No, to me Max needs to have alot more confidence in himself and stop beating himself up for not knowing alot of words or not being like super smart.
3.Yes,because if you carry yourself with confidence and show that you’re a strong person then others won’t be able to take run over. Like someone I know does’nt get treated with alot of respect by a certain someone because he lets them see that he has low self-esteem so they feel that they can treat him how they want.
4.Yes,because lots of times if someone says that they don’t like a certain way that we dress or talk we might try and change because of what someone else said. For,example I had a friend who didn’t really fit in alot of timesbecause of they way they talked or the type of things they listen to. So, in return she changed and everyone saw how fake she was and her plan backfired so now she just acts like her regular self.
1. Why is Max convinced he does not have a brain?becuase he is in the seventh grade and he shouldnt be, also because he has a hard time reading
2. Is his assessment of himself as a “butthead” correct?i dont think it is. even though that is usually used as an offensive word, the literal meaning akes no sense unless ther eis a ajor birth defect o_O anyways. even in the offensive way, he isnt. he isnt a bad person btu his self esteem is low.
3. Do our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us? (Explain, and give examples.)yes, i believe it does. if someone sees that you have low self esteem and you walk around with your head low and act all emo then yeah, people are gonna stray away from you and think you have persoanl problems and may not want to get involved in drama. if you hav e ahigh self esteem and are proud of beoing yourself and show it alot of people would look up to you.
4. Do others’ opinions of us affect how we feel about ourselves? (Explain, and give examples.) It depends on the person in my perspective, like myself, i dont really care what people think of me, they could think i am ugly, self centered and stupid. it wouldnt change my opinion on myself. But some people take what other people take into consideration and become somethign they are not and try to fit in with everyone else because someone thinks they are ugly they would do thier hair different, put on different clothes, or whatever to try and make people like them to try and boost thier self eteem. they want everyone to like them and that would make them feel good abotu themselves, but as i said before it depends on the person
Max is convinced he doesnt have a brain becuase he is not a good reader and he is in special classes. His assesment of himslef as a butthead is incorrect, although if he keeps thinking that, that is how people will see him. He has a lot of potential of being a cool person, but he doesnt flaunt any of his good qualities. How you carry yourself and act is deffinatly how people will see you. This all comes down to the saying ” you cant judge a book by its cover.” Personally, I feel that others opinions of us DO affect how we feel about ourselves. When things are said about me, I begin to think how and where people are getting that information from.
1)Max thinks he has no brain because he failed 7th grade many times. Also, when he is with Kevin (Freak), who is like a dictionary, he feels dumb compared to him.
2)Max’s assessment of himself as a butthead is not correct because no one is a butthead unless they want to be one by acting like one. If he used his brain more he wouldn’t feel like one. He just needs to be prouder of himself.
3)Our opinions about ourselves do affect the way other people think about us. For example, if you say that you are very dumb, people will start noticing all the wrong things that you do. Then they will really think that you are dumb.
4)Other people’s opinions do affect the way we feel about ourselves, but we should just ignore the bad things and remember the good. For example, if alot of people say you are ugly, you start believing them and start finding all the bad stuff about yourself.
1.Max is convinced he does not have brain because he doesnt get good grades and have a high vocabulary. He says his “mind is vacant”, but he just isnt super smart…its not a crime.
2.Well i always thought that the word “butthead” was refering to someone who was mean and rude and not very nice. But the way it is used in the text it seams more like a lack of intelligence. I dont think it is entirely true: max is capable of thought, he isnt very mean, and he tries to learn.
3.My mom always says to me that if that is how i think of myself then others will also. How you think of yourself whether its in a bad or good way does affect the way other people do think about you to. If i think im ugly and obsess about it others will think im ugly to, i dont know how but it somehow shows subconscouisly.
4. Other peoples opinions of us definently affect the way we fell about ourselves, especially if you are sensitve. Some people may say they dont really care what people think but one way or another we all have feelings and these things will affect us. If someone critisizes me i am not going to feel very good about it, for instance this one time this boy would make fun of me because i was short and i became very self conscouis. Well now im good height for my age but before i didnt feel very good.
1. Max is convinced he has no brain because he failed the seventh grade.
2. His assesment of himself as a butthead is not correct, because he just has alow self-esteem.
3. Yes are oppinions of our self effects how others think of us because if we think bad about are selfs other peaple will feal the the same way.
4. Yes because if peaple say bad things about you like your dumb it could make you feel bad and tkink you really are dumb.
max is convinced he does not have a brain because he is exeptionaly slow. He has much trouble reading.
max is not a butthead he is juss not as smart as his peers.
our opinions of ourselves definatly affects the way others think about us like if i saw som1 who always tlked bad about themslves im gonna think they need help
yes beacuse if they didnt people would be walking around wit orange and purple clothes on
max is convinced because he is in the learning disabled class, his grammar is horrible when youread the book.his assesment of himself as a butthead is wrong because everyone has a different rate in which they learn.our opinions does affect of what others think of us because if you dont think highly of yourself who is gonna care about you.others opinions affect us because if their opinion gets to you , you could be thinking down on yourself.
1. Max is convinced he is dumb because he has failked the 7th grade, and because he cant read that will and he doesn’t know all the most of the words like freak (kevin).
2. Max’s assessment of himself as a butthead is false because he can be as smart as any one if he wants to be , it’s just that he has a low self- esteem and needs to be more confident in himself.
3.Yes our opinions of ourselves does affect how others think of us because if you start think bad things about yourself other people will also start believing it.
4. Yes, others’ opinions of us affect how we feel about ourselves becuse if someone tells you that you are dumb it will sometimes get to you and you will start feeling dumb and bad about yourself. What you have to do is not to let it get to you.
1.I think max is convinced that he dosent have a brain because whenever he is confronted by any one he never speaks or stands up for himself. He may be scared although I dont understand why since he is bigger than most people he meets. Also max is in the Ld class and he thinks only kids without brains are in that class.
2. Max isnt a butthead because although he dosent do well in school, he knows how to stay out of trouble and a butthead to me is somone dumb and bad.
3.our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us because if we think thta we are dumb, most people can see it by the way we act when it comes to learning. If we think that we are smart then when people observe us they will know that we are smart, or at least we think we are smart.
4. when we think we are dumb we never try to work to a level higher than average, but if we think we are smart then it becomes a challenge for us to achieve something greater so that we we can ” maintain our status.”
Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he doesn’t get good grades in school and is in an L. D. class. His assessment as a butthead is correct because he is a slow learner and sometimes does bad things. Yes, our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us because we are , or at least we try, to be who we think we are and people get that idea too. When you think you’re smart, you are smart (hopefully) and others will think the same of you. Depending on who says it, other’s opinions do affect how we feel about ourselves. If someone says something to you ,good or bad, you will most likely believe them and change your feelings about yourself.
1.Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he thinks he is not smart. Also he thinks that because he’s is in L.D reading
2. I think that Max is not a butthead because he helps other people solve their problems.
3. Our opinion of ourselves affect the way people think of us because if you are not confident in yourselves for example other people will think that they can push you around.
4. Other peoples opinions affect how we feel about ourselves because we often worry about having every one to like you, you let them talk you into doing something you wouldn’t do
I think the reason that Max thinks he has no brain is just because he has trouble reading and a hard time focusing. My opinion i don’t think he is a “butthead” because if he tries then im sure he would do fine on his work. The way that we think of ourselves affects the way other people see us because for example. If you would constantly say “i am so stupid!” People are going to hear that so much that they are going to start thinking that also. I also think that peoples opinions affect how we feel about ourselves because words can hurt. Another example is that if you heard someone say “Your so useless” all tha time…Then that’s going to make you think “maybe I am?” It’s also going to give you low self-esteem. Just like how Max has in this story.
1) Max is convinced that he does not have a brain because he flunked 7th grade twice and he is in an L.D. reading class. He also can’t think very much or read very well so that makes it seem like he doesn’t have a brain.
2) His assessment of himself as a “butthead” is pretty much correct because of the reasons I used above.
3) Our opinions of ourselves affect what others think of us because if your not satissfied with yourself, then everybody else will see you sad and that there’s something wrong with you. For example, if you think that you’re ugly then you won’t care how you look so you go to school looking ugly and people won’t be with you much because they think something is wrong with you.
4) Yes, other’s opinions of us do affect how we feel about ourselves because you usually try to make everybody think that you’re cool. For example, you just bought a new shirt, you wear it to school, and all of a sudden someone you know says that it’s ugly, so you stop wearing it to school. Although it depends who gave you their opinion. What I mean is that if somebody that doesn’t like you says that you look ugly, you shouldn’t pay attention to them because the just want to make you feel bad. You should pay attention to those that you can trust and are honest.
1.He is convinced that becaused everyone tells him so,so he starts to believe it.
2.I think that his assessment of himself as a ‘butthead’ is wrong..I think it’s just what other people WANT him to believe, and what he listens to.
3.Yes,because people who think differently of themselves hold themselfves differently through life, and people notice that.
4.I think they do.No matter how ‘unique’ someone is,they always take ideas or certain aspects from everyone else.
i believe max thinks he has no brain because he has repeated what 7th grade like 3 times atleas.
i think if we are confident other people won’t see our flaws as much as they would have if we were dragging ourselves around and being depressed. People definetly respond to how others think of us, like how some of us think others look “poser” like and then we talk about it and if i was a “poser” like person i would feel depressed that no one thought i could be the way i look. Well in a simplier sentence, i would unhappy if people started talking about me in a negative way..i would be less self assured.
1) max always thinks of himself that he dose not have a brain because his friend Kevin is like a dictionary and max can read that well he is in LD classes.
2) Max always confirms him as ”BUTTHEAD” but I think that is not true because some people have different talents then others.
3) Yes I do our opinions do affect how people think of us because if you think of yourself badly every one will treat you for how you think. For example you think you are very clumsy you will never get a job as waiter or a surgeon.
4) Yes I do think our opinions do affect us because we think of our self in many different ways because if you don’t believe in yourself you will think of yourself in a negative way. And that will lead you down the track to jail. Like you’re a chicken and now you try to be tough so you pick a fight with people and it with lead you of getting hurt or in trouble.
1. Max is convinced he does not have a brain because he doesn’t understand most words. He also “doesn’t think” by himself, and being in the LD class doesn’t help him gain self-esteem either. All the extra help just makes him annoyed,so that doesn’t help him either…
2. Max’s thought of being a butthead isn’t correct. He just need someone that could spark his interest in learning…so far that seems to be Kevin in the story. Also,he need to believe in himself more. It’s fine not knowing things and acting goofy, that’s my life story.Max just need to figure that out,but i think he will, thanks to Kevin, later on in the story,i can’t wait to read then.
3. Our opinions of ourselves does affect what others think of us.For example,if you think you’re all that and a bag of chips, people will notice that. They will treat you differently then someone who doesn’t believe in themselves at all.How they treat you, varies on their personally. In my experience, people seem to not notice you if you don’t like yourself, and most likey make fun of you.Just like Max in the story, when the other students tease him and called him names, like kicker.
4. Others’ opinions of us does affect how we feel about ourselves because everyone wants to be noticed and fit in.It’s in other human nature. For example, the way Grim and Gram talks about and to Max,really makes him think that he’s a monster, just like his dad.I think that made him really angry inside along with the “special” treatment others act towards him.He bottles up all of his emotions through, his would lower his self-esteem,which other would notice. They would take the advange and continue to bad talk him, being unconscious would their true actions.
I totally agree with what Alicia is saying people definatley do have things to say whether it’s negative or positive. But just don’t take it so hard on yourself who cares what other people think as long as you have confidence in yourself that is all that matters!
Max thinks he doesn’t have a brain beacuse when he compares himself to freak he assumes he has no brain since freak is really intelligent. He refers to himself as a butthead because he is not very bright…so he thinks. Our opinions towards ourself could give people a different perspective definately! For example: If you think you are fat it really gets peoples attenion towards that statement and of course the person is going to be like “oh you’re not fat”. Who actually would tell you the truth about something like that. Well, other people might care what other people think about them but personally I don’t.
Max is convinced he has no brain because he always is hanging around Freak and Freak is like a walking dictionary. Max wasn’t that smart to begin with anyways so him hanging out with freak makes him feel even dumber. His assessment for him being a “butthead” is not really correct. He is being way to hard on himself and making himself feel dumb. He has a lack of confadence. Our opinions of ourselves do affect what others think of us. For example, if you think your fat or ugly then that causes you to look even more fat/ugly. If you have confadence then it will show and people will see you as someone who can accept yourself for who you are and not ashamed of yourself. Opinions of others do affect us also. Like if someone says oh your so pretty then that will build up your confadence and make you feel better about yourself. Same thing with if someone gives you a negetive opinion about you. Like if they say “ew your looking ugly” then that will not only upset you, but it will also take away confadence.
Max is convinced he does not have a brain because he does not get some things that people say. Another reason is that he hangs out with Kevin alot and Kevin uses words that are considered big to Max the majority of the time.
I think that his assessment of himself is correct if he wants it to be. If he doesn’t think he’s a “butthead” then he’ll do more to try and become smarter, but if he continues to think that he is a “butthead” then he won’t want to try and learn more.
Our opinions of ourselves do affect what others think about us because if you think that you are smart and you can prove it, then others will think you are smart. It also works that way if you feel negative about yourself. If you feel a certain way about yourself, for example, you may think you’re stupid, you will start to act like someone who is “stupid” and others may feel the same way about you the way you feel about yourself.
I think others’ opinions may or may not affect your own opinion of yourself depending on what kind of person you are. If you are a person who doesn’t care what others say about you then it may not affect your opinion of yourself, but if you are a person who is self-conscious then it may change how you feel about yourself. For example if some one says that you are ugly and you don’t care what they think, then it will not change how you feel about yourself and it may not force you to change your appearance, but if you are someone who does care what other people think about you and someone says that you are ugly then it may force you to change your appearance just so you could please other people.
1 Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he failed 7th grade numerous times. He also thinks that because he has LD classes. His self-esteem is very low and his sorroundings(his room, his grandparents and classmates) don’t help his situation.
2 His assessment of himself as being a “butthead” is incorrect because he shouldn’t judge himself that hard. He is very insecure about who he is and for him the only way out is by blaming it on himself.
3 I think that our opinions of ourselves in fact have an effect on what others think of us. If you show others that you think you are good for nothing and think of yourself as a “butthead” then pretty soon you will become a target for harassing and possibly bullying. But those who think highly of themselves and think they are the best will eventually be made fun of as well. So if you are confident and know who you are evrything else will fall into place.
4 In my opinion what others’ think of us do affect how we think of ourselves because we are humans and we are easily influenced if we do not know how to deal with our problems. We have to be confident and sure of ourselves so we don’t get affected. But caring too much about what others think will only destroy you. I see it this way, imagine a wall and people throwing things at it eventually it will break and thats why we need to constantly refuel ourselves because if while they are throwing things at the wall and we keep on buliding the wall it will be harder to break it. How do we refuel ourselves you ask. Well we hang around people who will strenghten us and try to focus on what is important in life( not what other people think).
1* Max is convinced he does not have a brain because Kevin knows so much more than him and so when he is around Kevin, Max feels less smart. I’m not really sure about this question, I only got to read up to page 20.
2* Max’s assessment of “BUTTHEAD” is not correct because he really is not. he may not be as smart as Kevin but it does not mean he is entirely stupid. Also “butthead” is not very nice.
3* Yes, our own oppinion of ourselves affects the way others think of you because. If you go around telling people “Oh, I’m stupid” they are going to laugh and say that you are stupid all the time. They are actually going to think you are stupid when you may really be smart.
*4 Sometimes, yes other peoples oppions may affect the way we feel about ourselves because if someone were to yell “That girl is ugly!” in the hall way, everyone in that area will turn around; they want to know who that person is talking about. it deffinitly depends on your self esteem. If you have a low self esteem peoples oppinions will bug you very easily, but if your self esteem is not so low it might take a while or something really big to bug you.
Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain, because Kevin is so intelligent. Also, he is in LD classes, he cannot read very well.
I do not think that he is a “butt head” as he refers to himself as, he just needs to look at himself more positively.
Well, if you believe that you are a polite person, you will begin to show it, and that might make people think positive of you.
Wether you take other people’s comments seriously, or not, It really depends on your personality.
1. I think Max is so convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because everytime he is with Kevin, he feels like Kevin is his brain, which makes him feel smarter. Also he has to ask Kevin what a lot of words mean.
2. I don’t think the statements about being a “butthead” are correct, because he sees himself doing something wrong or by mistake and thinks it is considered as “butthead behavior.”
3. I think our opinions of ourselves change how people think of you. If you don’t like yourself, how do you expect people to like you when you, don’t? If you go around saying, “Why am I here?” or “Why was I even born, all I do is mess things up,” The people who want to be friends might think other wise and decide not to.
4. Some people care about what others think of them, while some don’t. People might talk about you behind your back, and you might hear from someone. (knowing how rumors spread as fast as a stampede or something quicker) You might care, go find the person who said it, and…”handle it your way,” or you might let it slide and blow it off.
Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because when he is with “Freak” he feels like “Freak” is some super genius and he is a complete loser and simply a joke. “Freak” uses this completely weird scientific terminology that confuses Max but he pretends that he understands it. When Max is with his robotic friend he feels smarter as if “Freak” had transformed Max into a person that actually feels like he is learning something for that moment. Another reason why Max is convinced that he doesn’t have a brain is because he is in a Learning Disability class with all the “stupid” people, but I think that this is very untrue! He also has no confidence in himself and he acts like he is a complete “idiot” with a gigantic body like some cartoon character, but he isn’t! His assessment of himself as a “butthead” is completely incorrect because he has no self-esteem and he is more than what he thinks he is. I think this opinion of himself is false because I believe that if you “put it to the max” you cand do anything, even learn, (in Max’s case)! He just needs to beleive in himself and then he will stop calling himself names like “butthead”, because he isn’t one, at least that’s my opnion of him.
1. Max is convinced that he does not have a brain because he’s in the LD class since he has trouble reading. He also failed seventh grade twice.
2. His assessment of himself as a “butthead” is incorrect because no one is acually a “butthead” Max just need to believe in himself and try to do the best at everything he tries.
3. I don’t think the opinions of ourselves affects the way how other people think of us because people shouldn’t believe everything they hear. For example, if you think of yourself as dull and boring some people won’t believe that. The only way you can find out the personality of someone is to befriend them and get to know them better.
4. Others’ opinions do affect how we feel about ourselves sometimes because everyone has their own thoughts about themselves. For example, some people might say something about you and you feel that you need to meet it to fit in.
Max thinks he dosn’t have a brain because he is intensive reading and how he barely understand what freak says most the time. No because hes learning as he goes on. Yeah you could be saying like I’m so cool and other ego manic stuff and people might think that you only care about yourself but on the other hand you could be caring of others and no one would know. Yeah people might say your a stupid moron and thight push you enough to stop caring about yourself.
1)
Max is convinced he has no brain because he’s failed seventh grade twice, and he’s probably given up on trying, and it’s hard for him to read.
2)I dont think his assessment of himself as a butthead is correct, everybody is special in their own way and everybody has a mind, but he just either doesnt want to use it or doesnt really know how.
3)Yes,I think what we think of ourselves affects how others think of us,because if you think your stupid and boring or whatever, you might become stupid and boring,or if you tell someone you’re stupid or boring they might believe you.\
4)What others think of you affects the way you think of yourself too becuase everyone cares what other people think of them.If somebody thinks you’re ugly, you might be thinking ‘ Oh I really am ugly if that’s what others think of me.’
1) Max is convinced that he has no brain because he is in special reading classes.
2)I think that his oppinion of being a “butthead” is wrong because he has potential.
3)The oppinions of our selves do affect how other people think of us because we will try to change ourselves.
4)The oppinions of other people thinking of us does affect us because we will try to change ourselves to meet those standards of others.
Max is very much so convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he failed twice, and he can hardly read. It’s also because of the way people treat him, and he is special classes.
Not knowing what a butthead is, I’m going to guess that it is a very unintelligent person.Max is wrong if he thinks of himself as a butthead. It is just that he doesn’t learn as fast as other children his age do. He also has trouble reading.
What we think of ourselves have a huge impact of what others think of us.Everyone ismost likely to think of you the same way you think of yourself. If you think that you are just an average person with no qualities, then that’s how others are going to view you.
It depends who you are, that you will let other’s opinions affect you. I am that one of those people who really don’t care what people think. But in general, it does affect us what people think of us.
1)Max believes that he doesn’t have a brain because he goes to LD(learning disablity) classes.
2)I don’t think that Max’s assessment of him being a “butthead” is correct. I don’t believe that anyone is a “butthead” unless they act stupid because they want to issult people who do have a learning disablity.
3)Our opinions of ourselves may affect what others think of us because if we think we’re stupid or dumb other people will think the same. For example, let’s say your walking around school and someone hears you say, “I can’t believe I got/did…..” blah blah blah, then they’ll think your stupid or whatever.
4)Now this one may vary for people. For example, when people talk about me, yes some of it does get to me. When someone says “You’re so stupid,” then that person thinks that they’re stupid or isn’t sucure about their intellgence level. On the other hand if someone starts talking about my physical appearance then I get upset and hurt.
I said stupid a lot. Sorry. That was long though.
Max is probably convinced that he doesnt have a brain because he can barely read thats why his in LD classes and because he failed the 7th grade so many times. and i dont think he should call himself a butthead because thats not true his not a butthead maybe his not the smartest person but he isnt a butthead!!! I think that our own opinion about ourselves does kind of affect what others think of us in someway like if you do something bad like a project and you say its bad they are going to probably agree but if you dont say anything they aren’t going to say anything so they dont hurt your feelings. Yes i think that what other’s opinions about us affects us because if someone tell you your ugly your going to believe them and that will hurt your feelings…
max probably doesnt think he has a brain because people think he is dumb and he justs accept what they say. I think they could have used a better word but that kind of makes the story funny.I think our opinions of ourselves affect how others view us. like if we think we are dumb than other people will think that also. I dont think other peoples opinions should affect how you feel.if you think that your the coolest5 person on earth and others dont who cares it’s about what you feel and not them.
1.)max is convinced he does not have a brain because he is slower than most people and i think that he feel like he stupid and cant learn no matter how much he tries .
2.)his assessment of himself as a butthead isnt correct i dont think because he is smart he is just slow and he has alot of potential.
3.)yes and no , yes because if your really confident and show it perple might have more respect for you but if your really self consious and shy people might like think your weird. but sometimes it doesnt matter the way you act people might just not like you or have their own opinionof you.
4.)yes sometimes because if someones talkin bad about you or sayin mean things about yopu some people might let that get to them but no if you dont let it get to you . :-)~
1. Max is convinced that he doesnt have a brain because he is in a special LD class and he is slower to understand things than other people.
2. I think that Max is being hard on himself when he calls himself a butthead.
3. Yes because if we have confidence in ourselves people will start to like you. Unless your really vain. Then people tend to be repelled from you.
4. Yes because if other people dont like us or make fun of us we can become really hard on ourselves.
1.Max is convinced he does not have a brain because he haves a learning disibility.
2.No, he just haves a special problem that most kids have.
3.Yes, because if you keep telling everyone you are that then they will start thinking you are that because i keep telling everyone I’m smart so now they think I am.
4.No because we are who we think we are not what someone else thinks because some people say I’m a nerd but I know i’m not a nerd.
max thinks he does not have a brain because he cant read fast an d keven is like super smart. he probably calls himself a butthead because he is not that smart, and like he is super tall for his age.the opnions of your self affect what other think of you, for example if your very short for your age and have a disorder and think of yourself badly thatis what people will think of you. others opnions of are self will bring a person down also, for example if someone calls you fat that would hurt you and bring you down.
Max is probably convinced that he doesn’t have a brain because he’s in special classes and that he has alot of diabilities. Maybe not physically but everybody still thinks of him as different. Being huge and barely able to read lowers his self-esteem.
I really am not sure what a butthead is…… It sounds kind of like a stupid person. Max could be a smarter person if he tried, but the way he views himself really does stop him. He is what he thinks he is but as far as butthead, I think he’s wrong.
Our opnions of ourselves affect what others think of us in huge ways. If you think you’re ugly and scary, that’s probably the way you’re going to treat youself. You would dress carelessly if you don’t care about yourself. There are very few people on this Earth that can look deep enough into somebody to find the true person.
Other people’s opinions really do affect what we think of ourselves. If somebody constantly teases you and calls you ugly, after a while that will get to you and it will affect how you feel. If people call you the best looking thing in the world, that’s ho you’ll feel about yourself. But personally I try the best I can to ignore what people say because what they think doesn’t affect me in any way. It’s all about what I think about myself. Other people care about other’s opinions when they shouldn’t.
Max is convinced he does not have a brain because he failed the seventh grade twice and sometimes he doesn’t understand a word Kevin is saying. I don’t think Max is a butthead and he has a brain it’s just that since everyone keeps saying he’s just like his father he believes that and he just gives up. Our opinions of ourselves does affect what other people think of us. Like for example if you say “I’m so stupid” people are gonna think you really are stupid and they’re gonna make fun of you.
Ok…so we all know Max is convinced he has no brain. Why is that? Well Max thinks that because he is repeating the 7th grade aqain, he has no brain and he is very dumb. In my opinion, hi assessment of a butthead is incorrect because I believe no one human should be called a butthead…..even if they may sound like the dumbest person you’ve ever heard.
Our opinions of ourself really do affect what others think about us and the way they think about us. For example, if your always sitting in class complaining that your hair looks horrible today, sooner or later someone is going to go along with it and tell you your hair is the most atrocious thing ever. The only thing that does to you is lower your self-esteem greatly.
Personally, I don’t care what people say about me. I just don’t listen to them. So in my case, whatever people say doesn’t affect me in any way.
PLEASE COMMENT BACK!
Max is convinced he doesn’t have a brain because he failed 7th grade and he’s the biggest 8th grader. He thinks that before hanging out with Kevin aka Freak, he wasnt smart at all. I mean he could barely read and write.
Max’s assessement of decribing himself as a “butthead” is partially true. All of us have a little bit of butthead in us , to girls reffered as “blondes”. I think Max is smart he just gives up easily and doesn’t try. But hey thats why Freak’s there to help him.
I think that our opinions partially affect the way others think of us. For example when you say things like oO im so ugly and nobody loves me, thats not true. You have friends and family and even secret amdirers that love you and think the best of you. If someone disagrees than they are jealous. Let them say whatever they want. When you call yourself ugly in front of those people it shows insecurity and a weakness. This gives those “haters” more to make fun of you.
TO BE CONTiNUED ..
Max is convinced he does not have a brain because he isnt as smart as kevin which mekes him feel dumb. Everyone has brain no matter how dumb they are. Max isnt really a “butthead” he is not that dumb just he thinks he is because he keeps comparing himself with kevin which makes him feel dumb because kevin is vert smart. When people think low of themseleves i believe that it does affect what others think of us if you say im stupid all the time people are just going to assume that you are stupid because you say it all the time.Normally people that are told that they are stupid dont believe what that person says because that person does not know you as well as you know yourself but sometimes If otheres call you stupid a bunch of times it may lower your self-esteem and may make you think that you are stuid because people told you that you were. You should never take everything people say so seriuously and you shouldnt care what people think of you.
Max is convinced that he has no brain because he says everytime him and Kevin work as a team he feels “smarter.” We know that he really does have a brain, but he seems to think he doesn’t have a smart bone in his body. His assessment of himself as a “butthead,” I think, is incorrect. I believe that no one is a so-called “butthead.” He always gets mad at himself and constantly lowers his self-esteam.
Our opinions of ourself can greatly affect what other people think about us. For example, if you always say “Look at me!! I’m so ugly!!” then many people may start to believe this and then they will start calling you ugly. Other peoples opinions of us can also affect us. If someone always says, “That girl is so dumb,” then that girl may start to believe she is dumb.
Although opinions affect the average person, it’s still a toss up. The only thing you can do is not take the mean stuff people say to heart.
