Is Euthanasia morally acceptable?
In our look into the topics dealt with in the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, we have to consider the issue of EUTHANASIA.
Our study guide tells us: Euthanasia is “the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, a person or animal suffering from as incurable, especially a painful, disease or condition.

Where do you stand? IS euthanasia morally acceptable?
I believe euthanasia is acceptable because someone should have the right to chose when they want to die peacefully without committing suicide. This should be allowed only in extreme need of a severe medical condition and if the person’s quality of life would not be acceptable. While euthanasia could be taken advantage of and could be used inappropriately, if regulated, and properly used, it could be very helpful for people enduring or about to endure a horrible quality of life. I think it is acceptable if used properly because people should have the right to chose anything concerning their life, especially if they want to die because their quality of life is horrible.
Who defines “used properly”? What exactly is your definition?
How could “used properly” be taken advantage of?
And if it is to be regulated, then who regulates it? And who is going to make sure they don’t use it inappropriately? What is inappropriately? Who then? an individual? a group? Who defines what the point of no return is when it comes to euthanasia?
Where is the line to be drawn? Who draws the line?
So, you’ve got someone dear to you who is comatose in the fourth year. Nothing. No response to any stimuli. What do you do? Ask them? Where do you go from here? Who do you ask?
Can we take preemptive measures? Do you set up an In Case I Am In a Coma for More Than Four Years, On the First Day of the Fifth Year You Can Kill Me document?
And then there are those among us who say, we, us humans, us mortals, don’t have any right determining who comes into the world and who goes out. What is their response? Maybe it’s here.

Thing is, I have only heard from two people who have backed themselves up with anything besides their own opinion. You opinion means NOTHING if you do not have something to support it. Support it, please. And not that you can’t change your stance once you establish it. YOU CAN!! Just know where you are NOW, so you know where you can go. And if you will go? If you will change your position . . . know WHY!!

Euthanasia is a hot topic for debate, which is not hard to understand considethe fact that you are asking whether it is morally acceptable to “put someone out of their misery” or allow them to continue suffering and have to witness the immense pain they are going through, knowing you can’t relieve them of it. I believe the situation at hand when coming face to face with the subjeuthanasia affects the moral acceptibiltiy of it. If someone has a fatal illness, such as MS, a disease that slowly paralyzes its victim until eventually shutting down all of the muscles, killing the victim. If a person in this condition finds that they can’t live with having to always depend on others to do things that normal people take for granted, and don’t want to suffer any longer, then I believe that the decision to end their life should be up to them. No one should decide whether or not another person lives or dies. That,is immoral. Those who suffer from depression can get counselling to improve their condition and while they do suffer, I don’t believe they should have the choice to take the “easy way out” without trying to improve their condition. It seems like a double standard because I’m saying that not all of those who suffer should have the option to euthanasia. But different situations call for different factors to be considered. In conclusion, I believe that whether or not euthanasia is morally acceptable depends on the situation at hand.

I’m not going to be sharing my position on Euthanasia as it could create a bunch of teacher clones. I’m last thing I want a million of running around. You may not always be able to make a decision that shows clearly if you would would like euthanasia or not. Someone in an extreme case could not accurately judge themselves, to make a decision on their standing. However I believe that euthanasia is acceptable. If you were to have pain and then die, why have the pain? It would make no sense to continue having pain. If they make the decision it should be done, and in some cases others will/may have to make a decision for them if they are not suited to making a decision.
I believe euthanasia is morally acceptable because it alleviates a person from their suffering. Seeing your loved ones go through agonizing pain is greatly despondent, and euthanasia can help avoid that terrible suffering. I also believe people should have the right to choose when they want to die and how. Hundreds have been forced to suffer for weeks, months, or even years awaiting their death. Who would like to go through that?! No one: it’s completely pointless and cruel.
Many argue that euthanasia is cruel and not meant to be, but people choose it at their own will, no one forces them. These people want to be relieved of their suffering and their loved ones’ suffering; they want a peaceful death close to their loved ones. Others also disagree with euthanasia for religious reasons. As Dr. Sarah Edelman says: “Suffering at the end of one’s life is the preferable option because to assist someone to end their life is a rejection of God’s absolute sovereignty over life and death.” But as a contradiction statement she says: “The timing and the manner of our death should not be a decision for God or the church or for politicians, but for the individual and perhaps his loved ones.” That is what I agree with; the individual has the choice and “perhaps his loved ones.” The individual has the right to choose when they want to die and how
Where do I stand? I beleive that euthanasia should not be morally acceptable becauseyou can’t plan what will happen if you give them medicine because that could just die in more pain and the medicine could just make them sicker and in more pain.
I think that euthanasia is not acceptable. Only because I think that it is best for someone to live their life to the absolute fullest. It shouldn’t be ended because someone else sees you in pain. It should be decided upon yourself. Have you lived your life to its full potential? Then okay, you have the freedom to end it on that note. If not, then don’t try to force yourself to end it. I don’t think that a person’s life should be put into the hands of a doctor, stranger, or anyone else. If you are going to do it, at least know what you’re risking. Who knows? They might be able to cure you from your fatal disease at the last possible second.
I think it depends on the situation. For all cases I believe that people should take every possible step to save the life of a living thing. That’s why bottles used for things such as clensing make the comments that say if the chemical gets to a certain place on the body you should rush to get help. That is why when somebody is shot, stabbed, fall and hit their head (anything to that nature) they, or somebody else, calls 911. On the other hand if there is somebody in the hospital on life support, and you have written evidence that they wanted to have their family pull the plugs, then that is okay because they chose to do so. So for the mot part it is wrong, but in limited cases it is used because the people involved feel that’s what’s best for the injured or sick individual.
Euthanasia is not acceptable if the patient doesn’t know what it, however if the person wants to die painlessly than yes it is acceptable. Ending someone`s life is murder, it`s illegal and maybe the person doesn’t want to die before they see all their family and said goodbye. I agree that euthanasia is not morally right, yet if someone wants to leave the world a strong person so be it.
When a person or an animal is in constant agonizing pain and the pain killers don’t work, then if they want to go then with their consent, then yes euthanasia is acceptable. We can`t force a person to live and face a world of pain, some people just need to let go. Elders are targeted when doctors use euthanasia, but if an elder is in constant pain and nobody will let them die we could have elders self-abusing themselves. So if a person wants to die we should let them as long as the person if already dying. There is a fine line between legal euthanasia and illegal euthanasia, a line so fine that it might be over looked if a law legalized euthanasia.
The fact that a doctor might be able to slowly kill a person by overdosing their medication or adding different medications that the person didn’t need if absurd! That is murder! No person on the face of the Earth should be killed without their consent or without their knowledge. I believe that nobody should even be able to bring that to any part of government and try to make euthanasia legal.
I believe that it is morally wrong and should not be accepted. Euthanasia technically seems to already be happening even if it is not really ever mentioned. Like in one of the debates, they had said that doctors use medication to relieve the pain of the patient. The medicine isn’t just taking the pain, it is also taking away their life. They are dying faster than they would have if not in treatment.
People should not do this without the thoughts of the other. Like for Lennie. George did not even ask Lennie whether he wanted to keep living. It’s not something you would really ask, but couldn’t there have been a way of getting Lennie away from Curley somehow and not killing him. Was the murder of Curley’s wife intentional? No, it was not, therefore not really having Lennie deserve a ‘death penalty’ even when Curley told George he would kill him himself. They could have stopped Curley…
Some people who are so sick, that they cannot do anything about it, sometimes, still don’t want to die, but, for example, if the person were in coma for a very long time, they would have to disconnect him/her and let them die. Well what if a few days later, that person would have woken up by a miracle. You never know, and it would leave you with the thought of “What if…?”
In my opinion, euthanasia is wrong. It is not moral in any way. As Mr. Paul Russel said, “what society would we be creating where people lived with such fear?” He is referring back to the case in which people were scared to go to doctors with their medical problems of fear that they will be told that they should die. Also, why does a hospital that is supposed to provide health care say that they will pay for a patient to kill themselves but not for their treatment? That is completely wrong. What rights do the doctors of the hospital have to do this? If someone has a disease like for example lung cancer, it is normal for them to have thoughts of suicide at some point during their treatment but after they have overcome that treatment they will probably regret any thoughts of suicide that they had. This makes it unfair for a person to have their life taken away during a really bad emotional time in which they have completely no idea of what to do.
