Surveillance (n)- close observation of a person or a group
“Where there hidden cameras, Where we under surveillance” (Susan Collins, Catching Fire, 152)
Ok, so we got the author now, but I’m still puzzled by the sentence from the text. There’s something still not quite right about it. Check it.

By the way, what does amenable mean?
To Mr. Moshe;

OK, you all!! That’s 4 out of 10 words. Let’s get the rest up here by tomorrow afternoon. DUE DATES will NOT be pushed. Speak positively. Use those magic words you learned about from your parents, pastors, rabbis, and strangers – please and thank you, y’all. Talk to your classmates.
Hey you guys, we need to be sure to post the information for the terms in the proper discussion area.
Traumatic- (adjective) Of, relating to, or caused by a trauma:
SAMPLE – was recovering from a traumatic experience.
Sentence: “That was a very traumatic experience- for all of you i might add” (Sharon Draper, Tears of a Tiger, 112).
Mon’Tavis,
Terrific!! I went and added the author for ya’. I need you to check the punctuation and capitalization within the sentence itself. It needs to match exactly what’s in the text. I would have looked it up myself, using amazon.com, but I couldn’t get into the text like I could for Govanni’s term (Govanni, am I spelling your name wrong?). Check this, and update it for us. Cool.
I need one other thing from you . . .
You could
(1) find a definition that does not have the word root IN the definition. I will not give credit for definitions that have the word root them.
OR
(2) provide a definition for the term – TRAUMA.
Thing is, if I don’t know what TRAUMA means, then I will not know what TRAUMAtic means.
You’ve got this. MASTER this word. Own it.
Apprehensive (adjective)
Definition: Anxious or fearful that something bad or unpleasant will happen.
Sentence:”He felt apprehensive about going home.”
Jacob,
AWESOME!!! We need to know the author, title of the book, and page number. Thanks for your commitment to your classmates. You rock!!!!!
Also, what’s ANXIOUS mean? You don’t need to give us a whole entry, just the definition.
The Calling, by Cathryn Clinton “Things were not starting out too good and I’d had such high hopes cause this was the day my daddy was asked to preach, and it was a great honor to stand in the pulpit of Jasper Abraham Jewels.”
Pulpit (noun)- An elevated platform, or stand used in preaching or conducting a religious service.
Stephanie,
This is what we’re talking about. GREAT WORK!!! We need the page number. Also, I’ll need you to show me the text. Seems like there could be some punctuation (and maybe capitalization) stuff missing, unless it was written this way in Cathryn Clinton’s style (author’s craft/style) to get the characterization across just right.
People, this is AWESOME!!!
Self-aggrandizement (n)- to be more powerful and influential
” All she uses her gift is for self-aggrandizement, with a little unguded malice thrown in” (Robin McKinley, The Hero and the Crown, 144)
GREAT TERM, Govanni!!!!
Hey you guys and gals, please be very careful to type the sentence exactly as it appears in the text. If we are off with the citation, many people will, I guarantee it, misunderstand the term and learn it all wrong.
“All she uses her Gift for is self-aggrandizement, with a little unguided malice thrown in.”
And, WHOA!!!! There’s another great term – MALICE! Five points for the word in an original sentence of your own creation on the test (extra credit section). I will spot check you; we are going to have a conversation about this word if you want the credit.
