I think book burning is bad. Because we all learn diffrently. Some people learn from books and others hands on, and if you burn all of the books we will have nothing to learn of off. Also all of the uthors work will be ruined and they would be devistated. It will be a disaster.
Not only do I think book burning is wrong, I know it is wrong. Book burning was a ritual for the people. They even had people burning noble prize stories. I think that this is very bad because we lose the imagination and realization of the world. Books come with knowledge whether fiction or non fiction. Without books we as humans would be stupid. History would keep repeating itself and we’d be doomed to no end of an non accelerating species.
I thought that the book burn in was not good at all, because we learn from books. If we burn the things that we learn from, we don’t learn anything which keeps us the way we are, ignorant. Nothing would get done in the world because nobody would know who to do or how to innovate or make the things we have better.
I think that book burning could be good for some people. Some people enjoy reading while others don’t accept reading into their daily life style. I wouldn’t book burn because I like to read often when I’m bored. Also because books give you a lot of knowledge.
I think that burning books is very wrong. By reading u can get a lot of knowledge. This is a very close subject to me personally because, I want to be an author. And I would have hated it if my hard work and research got destroyed. It was wrong and unfair to the authors and the people who read these books
I believe that book burning is wrong. Not only does it take away the knowledge that the book might have given to a reader, but it also destroys all of the authors hard work. Even after an author dies, their book is left behind for others to read. Kind of like their “mark” left on the world. But when that book is burned, they are really gone now.
i think book burning is a terrible thing. books give u a lot of knowledge, they give u power. children need to have an imagination with the pictures and text. books can teach you a lot of lessons with anything you would want to know. u should never burn books at all because they can teach anything you want in life.
I think tha book burning is terrible. Books give us a lot of knowledge. Without books we probably would not know a lot that we know today. Nazi’s are terrible people and they should’nt have burn books at all. Nazis shouldve took a look at books and see for themselves.
Book burning is burning information that can be useful. Without books you cant learn how to read correctly and your vocabulary wont be as wide as it would if you read. You can learn about history and meanings of words but without books you really cant learn anything, except what other people tell you. Also when you burn books you are wasting the authors time that they took writing the book and brainstorming.
Disagree. because The group of German students called “The Burschenschaften”. I found out that this group first appeared in 1815. I found that very important, These groups were suppressed under Carlsbad decrees and they went underground until The German Revolution and it relates to the article because if someone read a book, that person and the book was burned so that’s why the people went underground.
the article is very sad to me, because its a shame that everyone in German is going around burning books. Even the kids are burning books. This relates to the book that we are reading too. The reason I say that is because nobody was allowed to read books or they books and them would be burnt.
The article burning books is really upsetting. It relates a lot with Fahrenheit 451. The fireman are the Nazi’s & the books in Montag world is the “un-german” books. This is one of the most unfair thing that has happened for authors and also for the people who really like reading. Books are a big part of this world, it teaches us about our history.
Reading this article made me sad. Why would people burn books. They are one of the things that gives us all of our information. If I were to burn a book in this time period, some people I know would be crazy mad at me. And the main thing that upsets me is. They didn’t think of the people that they may have upset. That is what I have to say about this article.
This article sheds plenty of light on this serious issue. I honestly think book burning is morally wrong. I’m angry with how people can go along with it, but I hope people will turn away from it. People really think that they can destoy somehting that they don’t agree with. They are so incredibly wrong…
This article of book burning is heart breaking. Not only for the people who likes them , but also for the people who write them. They put their heart and effort into writing this book for the people who love to read. I dont think books can only be used for information, they can also help youfind out who you really are. So basically burning books is burning you.
This article makes me feel sorry for those who had there books burned and those who had personal belongings or journals burned. all of the authors put their hard work and time in to the books and they were all just burnt.
Question: for those who weren’t apart of that tradition did they have to go though that to?
Question: why did the Nazi’s think that was reasonable?
I believe that books should not be burnt. They should be read instead of burned. The authors put there hard work and time in to it, and people just go and burn them.
I think that book burning is messed up because 📔 books teach us about what has happened in the past👌 and fire isn’t good for the environment anyway 🌴.
I think that book burning back in the day was very cruel. It was clear that they really didn’t know anything. I mean the Nazi’s did because they were a higher power. which we should know that they didn’t want the Nazi’s with the same amount of knowledge like them.
I think that burning books isn’t a good thing because if it wasn’t for books then I don’t think that some people would be the way they are today. In order for people to learn you kinda need books to tell you whay to do and how to do it. Most of you’re work comes out of a book. Some people like to read books for fun other not so much. So in my opinion I don’t think that burning books is a good thing
This article makes you want to read. It makes you take for granted reading. That shouldn’t happen. Books shouldn’t have been burnt and Nazi’s should have read and seen the true point of reading. For people to have better knowledge books are needed. They are important. Y
I think that book burning is cruel and something that the Nazi’s should have never done because the author’s took their time writing those books. Also reading is knowledge and it is how you understand what you read and not just burning and wasting paper.
I think that the way they censored the books was a little out there. What if the people who wanted the books needed the books to prevent something from happenig or to prove something. If they burned them all then they woud make the same mistakes like when the nazi’s burned books. I know that we wont make the same mistakes agian.
My reaction to this is just wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. I’m not much of a reader but when I read, I enjoy the books I read and I would hate it if someone came and took my books. Not just took them, burned them. For example, my favorite book is Wicked. If someone came and burned my book, I would be very very angry.
My response for this article how could some one do something like this? I think that they were scared of what thy didn’t know and that they would just burn all of the knowledge away. If they knew how many people that they have lost because in every book there is a person that had a role and a job that they must do to really drag the reader in. I think that someone still has a book and they are glad they did what they did. I would have been really scared to try to save a book but I would have tried my best to save a piece of the world.
in my opinon i believe nazis was crazy and they didnt know what the causes and effects their choices made for other people life styles people spent years, months, days to write these books and for someone to burn them i would be mad they should have thought before they made action.
I think book burning is bad because it can get you far in life. The Nazi’s shouldn’t have done that. But what they did was wrong because some people likes reading. Nazi’s burned other peoples work that they worked hard to write. It’s bad that they burned all kinds of books.
I think that the book buring was a bad thing the nazis did not realize the damage they caused to other people. It is kind of hard to write a book for nothing for other people to burn it. If i was the author of the book i would be really mad becuase i wrote that book for people to read not for the people to burn them. For other people books might not be important but to others reading is there life. You should look back at the trajic event that happened to the authors.
In my opinion I think that burning books is WRONG! Books have a reason for existing and authors take years to publish a book. All the sweat, time and effort goes to waste. Also you can learn from books, books represent knowledge and future effort. Finally, your whole life revolves around reading. You need to know how to read a stop sign, a male and female restroom, etc. Nazi’s messed around with thousands of peoples future because they became ignorant with literature. This is my opinion.
I don’t know about this, but how about we burn the derogatory books so the world will be a better place? There are some inappropriate books and they must be burned. But this is very dangerous, like what if a wrote a book criticizing your favorite stuff saying “All who like *insert favorite here* are going to be stabbed by Jeff the Killer the next morning” you’d want to burn it.
Burning books is bad because you can learn a lot by reading books. And by burning books your not learning anything really. By reading your brain can expand in knowledge. like when the Nazis burned books that was because of religion. but that was still wrong in my eyes but not in their eyes
I think that burning books is bad. It is very offensive to the author because of all the hard work he put into it. The Nazis did it because of religion, put that doesn’t matter because books are meant to be read, not burned into ashes. This is history we are burning, and history should be looked back on and not be destroyed.
Regardless of the religion, beliefs or race of a person there is still not an exception to book burning. In my opinion this was a cruel action especially with the discrimination Jews already received during the cold war and holocaust. To take that one thing that expresses feelings and perspectives and freedom is truly unfair to the authors that wrote it. I especially disliked that some people actually took their books off the shelves in the library to prevent others from reading it. Nazis shouldn’t have had access or authority to burn books physically or verbally. As I looked at the photograph I saw many pages burned and ruined I felt that their could have been another way to settle this instead of burning the books that many readers didn’t get the chance to read or experience. Books symbolize more than words and pages, it is a journey and escape, I wish the Nazis would have thought of the importance of books before burning and publicly embarrassing the authors.
I believe that book burning is wrong. The Nazis were totally wrong. The Nazis were hurting others and themselves because they were not getting knowledge either. All of those authors put hard work into each book and to see them get burned would be tragic.
I believe that burning books is wrong people who burn books are killing people. They also are destroying our history because of all the passion that goes into these storIRS. If we didn’t have these stories we would be our old and esters not knowing anything about our neighboring countries.
I’m not sure what you mean….I think you mean something about our ancestors, but I’m not sure I understand. Would you explain your thoughts in more detail?
I think that burning the books that other people wrote wasn’t good at all. Many authors could’ve spent years trying to write their book and get them published.
Burning the book was real bad and all but celebrating it was not cool what about the time to take the time to write it. It usually takes month to actually write the book it put the author book out their and of course the germans would do it they already started the holocaust why wouldn’t start burning book the might as well should have fired all the teacher that work at schools.
Burning the books was an insult not only to the authors, but to the people that read the books. One reason they burned the books was that the books or the authors were “un-German”. That is a horrible reason. There is no reason in the world that should justify burning books. Everything had to be German no matter what. Even if it was a German author but he/she did not agree with the Nazi way, their books go burned. People have the right to be who they want, believe what they want, and read what they want.
I believe that burning books is crewl and unessesary. I’m sorry for all the innocent victims who’s books were burnt up. With books you can discover new things and learn more information/facts about backgrounds that you never knew about. In the 1900’s they burned books, but what is the purpose of this action? Was it to show that they can’t learn anything from books, if so their wrong because I read many books in my life and I found them interesting, fasenating, and helpful for information in my school resources, but also it’s a great tool for your knowledge. I think it was wrong for Nazis to burn and destroy books, “they are to be read and loved.”

You said, “In 1900’s they burned books, but what is the purpose of this action?”
I ask you: What was the purpose of the book burning in the 1900’s? Do you know? Find out and report back.
I feel like this is something I would see the Nazis doing and it doesn’t really baffle me that they are the ones associated with it. But this article really caught my attention when they said that the bonfires were so important that many were broadcast. Why would support something like that. Many of the authors that did get their books burned I feel sorry for because they dump their heart and soul into those book. To watch their books just be burned is heart wrenching. I know that people say that our generation isn’t the brightest but they can’t be talking because they have a play in the way we act. It just really annoys me when people take things for granted because they don’t enjoy it. You can’t be self centered and not care for others. Exactly what the Nazis did.
This article makes me feel sorry for the authors who’s books were burned. I feel like this act of burning books were very dumb to do because there are so many interesting facts inside of these books and these authors that wrote this put in all their hard work to get their books burned.
The students would gather books to see if they’re not German Tradition and if they weren’t German Tradition they would put it in a stack to get burned and if they were German they would keep them. It even shocks me that even East Russia was part of the book burning act, but they aren’t even German they are Russian. Even books that they burned were Noble-Prized winners. When they burned the books they also burned people because to some people books are a part of them. I think it was very wrong what they did. Books are not to be burned, “they are to be read and to be loved” as Ray Bradbury said.
me too I thinks its sad all there work burned away like wood for a fire
My opinions on this subject is as follows:
I think this subject is really strange, because why would nazis soldiers go after books , I think it was because they know that a book is a key to all these diffrent authors and there thought and how they see things in life that’s the person that is reading does not. They want to make a connection because most books have a part in it that would connect to a human beans life at some point, and so they know this posses a threat to them and they don’t want the civilian to grow in knowledge. The thought I get out I get out of this situation is that they are very uneducated that they would burn great work from people to Albert Einstein to Hellen Keller. I just makes them look very ignorant to say the least.” Where books are burned,in the end people will be burned”-German poet
IRONY TIME – Some very educated people were the most horrible Nazis. Education does not equal intelligence, nor does it have to lead to compassion, justice, empathy, or equality.
I am very angered by these actions. What was the point of burning the books? I find it very disrespectful that the Jews had their personal property invaded just because of who they were.. It’s so sad the Jews were judged beaten. tortured, and killed just because of who they were and where they came from.
I totally agree it was unfair for them to do such actions, Did they ever think what they where doing to people’s lives of the victim’s. if not killing all there family’s? They judged peiple based on how they looked, Did they ever hear the quote, “Dont judge a book by its cover”, obviously not cause thqt book was judged, while burning some in the process. They is some excellent information you can get from books & it all wentto waste when they burned them, sad to say some oof those books will never be recoved. Bradbury said the book is like the person who wrote it, everytime you burn a book its like your killing the author. He said when you read the book you become the author. So many author’s killed.
My reaction to this article is why would somebody do something like this. All that knowledge in the book is just gone to waste and the people who wrote it are not even remembered anymore.
The Germans held a Luther festival for the book burnings. the students who attended the festival called it UN German for someone to burn books. Book burning use to be a ritual. Some of the books that were burned were noble prize winning stories. some students liked to burn the books of others.
I think this is very wrong how could you take something that means something from somebody else and not feel guilty. Somebody took there time and wrote them stories and you can just burn em. All that money goes in the drain.
I totally agree with you because books have very important information and people can be very knowledgeable about what Adolf Hitler was doing and when they found out they could be in serious trouble. But they really wanted to kill the Jewish people but they burned many books and there is a book about what temperature paper burns. So i totally agree with you marcellous 🙂
I totally agree with your reaction, the action of book burning is really wrong. Many books have great information about the world and all the Nazi’s what they did was a waste of what they had done on books and the authors that made these books must have been sad about what and some of these books were noble prize books but this was really ashamed.
