Here’s DISCUSSION QUESTION #2:
Discuss the nature of Sherlock Holmes’ friendship with Dr. Watson. How highly does Holmes value Watson’s opinion? Why is Watson important to Holmes? Why is Holmes important to Watson? Supporting your answer with details from the text.
PART 2.
i agree with elinor’s response because she included lots of details and quotes from the text. she answered the question thoroughly and in great detail. =)
holmes’ and watson’s friendship is really close. they value each others opinions in a lot of ways, holmes also needs watson’s help in most of his cases. for example, in the part that holmes is talking to sir henry baskerville about the letter he recieved. holmes said “have you yesterday’s times, watson?” so that means that holmes needs watsons help at times.
holmes values watson’s opinion highly by asking him for his point of view about the case. but at times he doesn’t really listen to his opinions because he makes the final decision by himself.
watson is important to holmes because they are close friends and they are partners in solving crimes. they are really close, and they do each other favors.
holmes is important to watson because they are close friends. also because he has to do important things and i’m sure he enjoys doing that because holmes is nice to him and values most of his opinions. for example, sir henry wanted to luch with holmes and watson and instead of agreeing right away holmes asked watson “is that convinient to you, watson?” and watson responded “perfectly.”
i agree with Alexis A. because it’s true that they are more then just friends. They’re more like brothers because they know everything about each other and trust each other with everything. They work together. If they did not work together they probably would not be so close and not be able to solve mysteries as good as they do now. Two heads are better then one.
The friendship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson is very great. Holmes value’s Watson’s opinions very highly. Watson is important to Holmes because they work together on every mystery. According to Holmes Watson is a conductor of light. Which means he helps Watson figure things out without having to think about it. Holmes is important to Watson because without him Watson would be alone. Watson cant do much on his own.
