Here is Discussion Question 8 – Hitler German Youth Movement
- Why did the NAZI Party place so much importance on German youth?

Hitler had a program called the Hitler Youth Movement. The Hitler Youth was a logical extension of Hitler`s beliefs that the future of Nazi Germany was children. The Hitler Youth Program is about as important as school was. Hitler had a statement as what he expected German children to be like: “The weak must be chiselled away. I want young men and women who can suffer pain. A young German must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp’s steel.” Also, after Hitler came to power, all other youth movements were abolished and the Hitler Youth Movement grew quickly because of this.
The Nazis Party was so important to the German youth because it would make a army. And Hitler would want the youth for the Nazis Army. And then they would be more pwerful.
The reason that i think the Nazi’s placed so much importance on their youth is that they needed soldiers to help out. So like Dessie said if you keep showing the children that the Nazi party is a good thing eventually they are going to believe you. The problem is that it is going to cause them to want to be one because they want to be spoken of as great and powerful just like the others that are enlisting for the same exact reason as them. So the Nazi party is using the youth as a way to regenerate lives lost in war they dident care about you they just thought of you as a form of help you really didn’t care about them or others.
Hitler placed so much importance on German Youths because of course they would be the future of the country and because he wanted to enroll them in his army during WWII. Hitler needed a strong, fit army which is why he would tell his fellow Germans to raise their kids to be fit. He would tell parents to enroll their children in some of his fitness programs. In one of his speeches to Nazi officials Hitler said that “He alone who owns the youth, gains the future”. In the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany proved to have the most fit participants than any other country and Germany received the most awards, but even this was affected by Hitler’s No Jew policies. During the Olympics no Jews were allowed to participate.

They mainly focus on the youth because they are the next generation and the next generation are going to be more powerful. Hitler wanted to take over the whole world and he thinks that to start, he would have to take control over everybody. In order to do that he would have to persuade the children that his ways are the right way so when those children would have children of their own they would be able to follow Hitler’s way of thinking. He wanted a strong military too and so he would make the children go into the military (starting from a certain age of course) and make them kill people to show the world what he’s capable of. The more people he persuades, the more powerful he becomes and his military becomes stronger and the closer he would get to ruling the whole world.
Youth was very important to Hitler. The boys were required to enlist in the army at age eighteen. The women stayed home and cook, clean, and make children for the army. The children looked to Hitler as a father figure.
I think the nazis wanted the youth to survive because they were the future of the nation. If they were jews, they would not want to be jews anymore. They think that the jews would learn their lesson, and not want to be a jew, but most jew children died anyway. The nazis wanted the german youth to join the nazis when they got older, thinking that they would survive till then, but the war was over before the children were grown men.
The Germans placed so much importance to the German youth because they were the next generation. They were taught that Hitler was the “best”. If they younger generation did what Hitler was told, then he would have more power because the generation after that would do the same and so on and so on.
The kids were determining the future for germany because they are the future. If theyre in the Nazis may other kids will go Hitler will get even more powerful because all these people or kids are joining.
The NAZI party placed so much importance on German youth because they wanted to keep the NAZI party going forever so they brainwashed kids into thinking sending Jews to camps were good and they also trained teenagers into war machines by putting them into camps where they workout and get stronger, bigger and war ready. The wifes were stay at home moms and trained the girls to clean and what to do while their husbands were in the war and raised the boys until they were teenagers to get ready for being in the war
The Natzi party placed so much importance on the German youth for his propaganda message. The messages saying that they were a people of dynamic resilent forrward – looking and hope.
They mainly foucsed a lot on youth because they would soon be the leaders and Hitler wanted pusuade them to follow his ways so the Nazi party would continue. He didnt want them to disaprove their ways because then they wouldnt be Nazis and his plan of taking over the word and killing all Jews so the world would be “perfect” would be spoiled. He wanted the Nazi religion to continue through the world.
I think that Germany placed so much importance on youth because if their children are weak then in the future there country will be weak. So if there country is already showing there children how to be fit at such a young age then they will already be acustomened to be ready to fight for there country. This would have made there country stonger that ever and would have had the strongest military ever.
If i remember right the germans focused on the importance of their german children is because of their need of soldiers workers and other political needs, they would also carry on the legacy but sadly the germans lost the war and could not exactly continue the nazi reign.
I read that “Schools played an important role in spreading Nazi ideas to German youth.”
I think the reason that the Nazi’s played an important role in the German Youth because of the school system and the education that they were getting.
Hitler wanted the youth to be strong and be a leader in the future, just like the Nazi’s were doing that time period. Most young children would be just like the Nazi’s, killing famalies or putting them in concentration camps for life until they die.
The Nazi party placed so much important on the youth of thier country, because the youth were the ones that would either keep them in power or destroy thier party. The youth would eventually become thier everything, they would have to elect a new leader for the party when Hitler died, joing the army to make it strong enough to keep controll over the countries they planned to overtake. Hitler, being as smart as he was realized this and figured it easier to brain wash them from an undeveloped point of view- that of a child’s, so they wouldn’t realize what they were doing was wrong, because it’s the only world they knew.
Hitler and the Nazi party placed so much importance on youth because the youth were the young, the powerful, and the healthy, and were vital in the many public works projects of Germany. Also, the youth were more easily persuaded and more open to the radical ideas of the Nazis. And, of course, the youth would grow up to be the future Nazis, and lead Germany towards a ‘better future’.

First off, the Hitler Youth program was operating sicne the 1920’s. It was fed children who began their indoctrination at the age of 10. When those children reached young adulthood, they were moved intot he Hitler Youth ideology machine – of course this couldn’t happen until Hitler wa sin Power. There was no Hitler Youth program until Hitler came to power. After the hitler Youth program, young adults were routed directly into Nazi service in one form or another.
As far as Rudolf Hess goes and your claim that he suggested the idea of a super race, rather than take a position against you here, I would ask that you read all of the resources you find below.
Your right that Hitler was trying to instill Nazi ideals into the next generation but he was not the on who suggested exterminating the Jews. It was his second in command, Deputy Fuhrer Rudolf Hess, who suggested the idea of a super race. So where we all blame Hitler (and don’t get me wrong it was partially his fault) he wasn’t the only one to blame.
I think the reason the Nazi party had such a strong influence on the youth was because, like Chris said, they are the future. And because they are young, they’re also easily influenced. The Nazi’s probably thought that if they could get the youth caught up into their scheme, the plan would live for the next generations. They made children think that everything revolved around the Nazi Party, and that what they were doing was good. They needed everyone they could get to follow them, including youths, to keep their plans alive.
The German youth were so important to the Nazi paty because they were thier future, and without thier support they would have nonthing, no voter, no army, and no people to support thier acts. This would (unsopportive youth) cause the Nazi’s to lose everything they gained.
Hitler wanted to brain wash the kids into thinking that his ways were the best pecause after all of the adults die the kids will still be there (well most of them) and hitler wanted to make shure that atleast one or more kids were brain washed to follow in his foot steps to become what he was because hitler just hated the jews and only wanted one race
The Nazis took advantage of the need for German youth groups and used what teenagers wanted to slip in Nazi ideals. They took over the education system to portray Nazi views, and used the school system to glorify war; often isolate children from their parents. This was because they felt that the they needed another generation to enforce their laws in the future.
I agree with most everything that everyone has said about how Hitler persuaded the people but what none of you have talked about is the fact that Hitler followed through and kept his promises. Hitler did take the economy out of depression as it said in the video. Also while Hitler was in office the economy was booming so don’t just look at the bad side of Hitler’s presidency (even though there’s a pretty big bad side). All I am saying is that you have to give him at least some credit for following through on his promises (even though not all of them where good) which almost no other dictator or leader has done. Also if you are wondering how this relates to the topic one of Hitler’s promises was to focus on german youth.
If you don’t agree respond please i want this to turn into a debate.
I am an agreement with Chris and Kishan because if the Nazis can persuade their parents, then the kids will become Nazis in the future and kill Jews. They were the Nazis’ cloning machine, kill one and two more take its place.
i agree with the others b/c hitler wanted to raise the german youth to follow in his ways
Please tell us something we didn’t know, add to what you’ve read, contradict someone. Post something unique in some way next time.
And proof your post before you post.
i think the NAZI party placed so much importance in the german youth b/c the young was the next generation of germans so they wanted them to be NAZI’s also and keep the NAZI party goin
I do agree with everyone else. If you place everything on the adults of Germany, you have a very stong country, untill the next generation rises up. If you put importance on the younger generation, even when Hitler is gone there will still be his rule to Germany. that is also why he mainly targeted the younger generation of Jews.
The German National Socialist party (now known as the Nazi party) would place a huge importace on on the German Youth as not only are they the future of the country but they can also affect their parents decicions. You can see similar tactics today utilized by fast food companies. Did you ever beg your mom or dad to go to a fast food resturant? If they intrest the child of a family then the child can change their parents minds over topics. If you have support from all of the children then you have support from a majority of the adult population. Control of a populations children is key to controlling the entire population.
I agree with everyone else. the children of germany would grw up to rule the country so he pretty much got on everyone’s “good side”. Hitler was the second father to all of the german children who looked upu to him. the kids actually wanted to be a nazi that killed the jewish people or people that were different because everyone had to be alike in the way Hitler wanted them to be. like jenna said” the key to sucess”.
The Nazi Party focused a lot on Germany’s children because the children are the next generation of Germany and they will hold on to the ideas that the Nazi Party believed in even after Hitler was dead and gone. The adults probably won’t live long enough to pass on the message and ideas of Hitler and the Nazi Party, but the children will be around long enough to. Plus, I think that young kids will believe anything that they are told because sometimes they don’t know that its wrong.
You can change youth’s opions and believs, and when they get older they most likely wont remember, because most people forget alot of their childhood. Like everyone above has said the youth is the new generation, they will be what happens to the world next, they determine everything. The Nazis wanted to change the youth and make them believe in their believes. So most adults were killed or died from being over worked, and the children had to go to german schools and live in concentration camps. The concentration camps and schools altered the childrens minds and told them what to believe, so they grew up now learning their new ways to live. The Nazis thought they would be sucessful with this, but they soon found out that they would be wrong.
Like everyone said they targeted the German youth because its the next generation to uphold the laws that the Nazis “conveniently” made to make what they did “legal”.
If you ask why the Germans targeted there youth you could also ask why did they go after the Jewish children first? Its about the same answer they targeted them so they could cancel the next generation of Jews so they could create there “Aryan” race that Hitler was so upsessed with that he destroyed a whole country.
Without another generation to enforce the bylaws of their predecessor, a movement such as that of the Nazi parties, would’ve died out. Nazis knew that they themselves weren’t going to live forever, and needed someone young, vibrant and impressionable. AKA German youth. For instance, the Taliban forces in the middle east. Who do you think they target ? The grown men in their countries? Absolutely not. Grown men’s lives are practically over in the eyes of the leaders. Now the youth, on the other hand, have just begun and have bodies that are ready to engage in any action thrust upon them. Just like the German youth.
I agree with all the others about the youth. I also think the Nazi party were trying to brain wash the youth and persuade them that the Nazi party is the best. In 1938 Hitler gave a speech that informed others about their child being in the organizations. This was a very clever way to have the youth involved with the political scheme. This would help the idea of Nazi power to generation to generation.
I agree with Jenna, Chris, Kishan, and Ryan. If they keep saying how great the Nazi party is, then all these kids will grow up saying “oh, when I get older I wanna be a Nazi”. Then they would be able to pass on, generation after generation that the Nazi party is the best thing to possibly believe in or even be in yourself.
Also, in the video we watched in class, they wanted women to be housewives to take care of all their children because they are essentially the future Nazi party of Germany.
Why does anything do anything, they only do it if they think its going to help them in the future. Hitler targeted the youth because like Jenna had said the youth is the neaxt generation and if you want a tradition to stay and continue you have to put it in the youth so they know the ways and teach it to the next generation after them. You target the kids first because they always like to be exactly like a famous person in there community and most people in that time who people respected were in fact part of the Nazi party so it seemed logical to go include the chidren in Hiters plan for the “Aryan” race that Germany supposedly is.
Great response. All I can say is . . . punctuation.
I agree with Chris. When you have a younger generation depending on you, you have to be their role models because they are looking up to what they are going to be when they get older. They were making sure that the younger kids were getting the education, and the discipline that they deserved beacause they had to take control when they grew older.
German youth was so important to Hitler because he wanted to construct an army. Like Jenna said, Hitler wanted the youth for the Nazi army. In the video we watched in class it talked a little about how Germany wanted their men and boys strong and healthy. The women would stay home, cooking, cleaning, and producing children for the Nazi army.
i also agree with Chris and Kishan on the stand that the GErman youth were going to be the future leaders and soldiers of the Nazi Party so of course they wanted them strong. I also think this is why Adolf tried to portray a father figure on many of the youths in Germany so that they will obey him in a sort of wya.
German youth were basically the Nazis of the future, like Chris and Kishan have been saying. If you plant a seed at a young age, it will grow strong and powerful. In other words, if the nazis emphasized to kids their beliefs and ideas the kid will have the same opinion for the rest of their life. Which is why it’s always important to set a good example for kids. Children were trained to be strong and healthy, to ensure the power that Germany wanted to have. It doesn’t take a lot to influence people at a young age, which is why these kids were the key to future success. If the nazis molded them into miniature selves, they would indeed have the future they wanted. Which is why there was such a big importance over German youth.
I agree with Chris. The kids of Germany represent their future. If their kids are weak, then Hitler knows that all his hard work will go to waste because they won’t be able to live up to his current Nazi Party’s strength. The Nazi Party placed so much importance on their youth because they were the future of the Nazi Party.
The reason I think the Nazi party put so much importance on the German youth is because the youth would be the future of the country. Because of this, to ensure a good future for the country, they wanted their youth to be strong, like the leaders of the Nazi party.
